VOLUNTEER'S INFORMATION FOR CLEAN -UP DAY

We appreciate all the volunteers working on the 4th Annual Hamburg Township Huron River Clean-Up Day. This letter is to inform you of the details for the workday.

Event:                    ANNUAL HAMBURG TOWNSHIP HURON RIVER CLEAN-UP DAY
When:                   Saturday, April 30, 2011, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Where:                  Everyone is to meet at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Livingston County Wildlife & Conservation Club, located at 6060 East M-36, Hamburg Township.

Orientation Meeting

Starts at 8:00 a.m.! It is important for you to be on time, as there will be an Orientation for all volunteers and site work assignments will be made at that time. Instructions will be given by MDNR, Township and event organizers on procedures and safety items at the Orientation.

What To Bring:

• Waders, gloves, boots, life vests, hats with a brim, sunglasses, protective eyewear, chainsaws and a change of clothing. Dress appropriately for the weather.
• If you have special dietary needs, please bring food/drink that you require with you to the event. Some food/water will be available at the Conservation Club site during the day for the lunch period.
• Also, we are collecting digital photo and video of the event. If you are able to photo/video your work activities, we would appreciate you sharing your work with the Clean-Up Day Committee by giving us a copy on CD/DVD of your work site activities.

Cell Phones

Bring yours if you have one. Protect it properly from the work environment.

• If you know anyone else wishing to participate, additional volunteer registration forms are available at Hamburg Township Hall, or online at www.hamburg.mi.us.

Tasks
Trash will be picked up and fallen trees that aren’t embedded in the river bottom will be pulled away from the center of the river and placed parallel to the shoreline to slow storm water and snowmelt runoff and riverbank erosion.

Special Note to Minors
We remind all student and scout groups and their leaders that all persons who are legal minors must be under the direct supervision of their legally responsible parent/guardian/group leader at all times – no exceptions! We want to keep this day as safe as possible for the young people wanting to participate and to give them a positive community involvement experience.
