July 17, 2010
A dedication ceremony took place in front of the new “Veterans
Memorial” on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 11:00 am. A few guest
speakers were on hand along with Boy Scout, Jordan Jones, who
organized and oversaw the project and a big thank you to Hilda,
our “landscaper” and all of our legion men who worked so hard
getting the memorial ready for this day. Our own Honor Guard
did a fantastic job during the ceremony also. Thank you Everyone!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their
participation in the Post 419 Veteran Memorial dedication on
July 17, 2010. The weather was perfect and the turnout
was exceptional. The Post 419 Honor Guard, as usual, did
an outstanding job; the Post auxiliary, as usual, went above
and beyond in the preparation of the lunch. A special thank
you goes to Jim and Linda Wallace for their kind words. The
Post has received numerous compliments concerning the Memorial
and one was especially moving, "I have never seen a more
beautiful or meaningful memorial" and that was from a World
War II vet. I want to make special mention and thank you to
the "Monday Morning Crew" for the many hours you spent
on the Memorial. My gratitude and respect is never ending. I
will not list those names for fear of forgetting someone but
you all know who you are and you should be proud of your accomplishment. THANK
YOU, ONE AND ALL.
Michael Steuer,
Commander, Post 419 American Legion
Post 419 Honor Guard
