New Projector for Post

The SAL purchased a new projector to watch events on TV at the Post. The old one became too difficult to watch, but now there is also a larger screen for viewing and a sharp, clear picture! Come up and watch the large screen for the Super Bowl or NASCAR! Thank you, SAL's!

SAL & Livingston County Civil Air Patrol

One of our own, Sons of American legion members (SAL) is involved with the Civil Air Patrol. Mark Garland, is a member of the Livingston County Civil Air Patrol.

Just days before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, The Civil Air Patrol was created by Administrative Order 9 in December 1941. The organization was originally formed to provide civilian air support to aid the war effort of World War II through border and coastal patrols, military training assistance, courier services and other activities.

Civil Air Patrol has three congressionally mandated objectives:

Emergency Services : Search and Rescue operations and Disaster Relief missions.

Aerospace Education: Teaching Cadets and Seniors about Aviation, Space exploration and meteorology.

Cadet Programs:

Training cadets to be good stewards of the community and giving opportunity to experience, Aviation, Search and Rescues and Military Discipline.

2nd Lieutenant Garland is the Cadet Programs Director for the Livingston Composite Squadron. He arranges and supervises Cadet Activities as well as cadet promotions and training. A few activities that the squadron has participated in are: SCUBA Training, High Ropes Courses, Ski Hill Sledding and many Search and Rescue practice missions.

2Lt Garland and the Cadets assist in many community events such as Dog Fest in Pinckney and the Fowlerville fair.

The Civil Air Patrol in Livingston County is open to all cadets ages 12-18. Senior members with a willingness to participate are encouraged to join also. They meet on Tuesday evening at the Livingston County Airport from 6pm to 8:30pm. Please feel free to join them for a meeting!
