The next Senior Advisory Board Meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. ALL are encouraged and welcome to attend!!  There will a special meeting held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10:00 am to discuss and renew Board Member terms and revise the By-Laws to reflect current practices.

Senior Advisory Board Meeting Re-Cap

Meeting called to order at 10:03 am.  All members present except Gary Kaiser and Janet Bater.

Approval of Agenda:  Bob Andrews moved, Pat Kolasinski supported.  

Call to Public:  None

Correspondence:  Memorial contribution for Jim Shafor and Janet Patrell on behalf of Bud and Joan Mahnken and a thank you card from MOST Ministries

Approval of Minutes of March 13 and April 10, 2019:  Pat Kolasinski moved to accept, Bob Andrews supported.

Old Business
(a)  Entertainment: After the success of the Friends in Harmony concert as a separate event, separating entertainment from potlucks in beneficial; 
(b) By-Laws: the proposed changes were highlighted in yellow. It was discussed that once by-laws are approved from the Advisory Board they will be sent over to the township for board approval.  After the Township Board approval the date will be amended on the by-laws document.  Since the changes made in 2014 revisions were not approved by the township all changes will be amended to the 2019 date.  Changes to by-laws include:
8.4:  add a definition of the word majority
10.5: add that records are keep based on the Township Retention Policy. Change the word "governed" to "required".
5.2: update spelling of monies
Motion was made to accept the by-laws as amended by Bob Andrews, seconded by Gerry Przeslawski, all in favor.  However, after further discussion,  the original motion and its' second was changed by removing the word "staggered" in section 4.6. All in favor;
(c) Board Member Renewals:  Board Terms will be kept at two years, all terms will be renewed at July Board  Meeting.  Julie Eddings, Senior Program Director, will send over a copy of board members and their terms to the Board of Trustees.  Board Members who have been previously sworn in do not have to be sworn in do not have to e sworn in again.  Pat Hughes will come to July board Meeting to swear new board members in;
(d) Transportation:  LETS bus will start in July 2019, twelve surveys were turned in to senior center office indicating a need for transportation Monday thru Friday for doctor appointments, shopping, entertainment and for transportation to and  from the Senior Center.  Julie Eddings will meet with Township Supervisor and Township Clerk to discuss direction of transportation.  Board decided on three days per week at 8 hours a day.  Recommended by board to start with Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

New Business: 
(a) PCS Donation:  letter was received from the Pinckney Senior All-nighter committee requesting a donation.  After discussion amongst the board, a motion was made by Chuck Menzies and supported Bob Andrews to decide against donating senior center funds as public monies cannot be used for private donations.  Julie Eddings  will contact Pinckney All-nighter committee;;
(b) Senior Advisory Board Alternate Position
: Barb Mitchell was voted in by Advisory Board as an alternate member;
(c) New Program Activities:  Upcoming programs at senior center include an information talk on Vertigo from Athletico and a Legacy Seminar from Citizens Bank.  Ideas for boosting Friday attendance include a Paparazzi Jewelry party and a Color Street Nail demonstration.  Julie Eddings is also looking into adding a rotating fitness class on Friday mornings including Pilates, Cardio Drumming, Zumba and Line Dancing.  Instructors will volunteer and members may donate to the instructor.

 Attendance:  2019: March total of 1204, daily average of 57; April total of 1280, daily 61.  
2018:  March total of 1150, daily average for 55; April total 1185, daily 56.
2017:  March  total of 1022, daily 44.5;  April total 971, daily 48.5

Adjournment: Bob Andrews made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Gerry Przeslawski.  Meeting adjourned at  11:11 am.
