Village of Pinckney Section

The following is quoted from the Village of Pinckney's Parks and Recreation Master Plan Report (2-6-2008)

The Lakelands Trail State Park is a rails-to-trail project approximately 20 miles from Hamburg Township to Stockbridge.

The trail includes a 10-foot wide paved pathway in Hamburg Township with a parallel equestrian trail and a crushed stone surface beyond Hamburg.

Hamburg Township's, and very recently, Putnam Township's Lakelands Trail portions are leased by the townships from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. They are maintained and operated by the respective townships and the Friends of the Lakelands Trail in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The trail is maintained by Putnam Township and the Friends of the Lakelands Trail in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources.

In contrast, the remaining portion of the trail is currently maintained by the Friends of the Lakelands Trail.

In addition, the group funds and operates maintenance activities with volunteer events, donations and other fund-raising efforts.
