Hamburg Township employs cutting edge technologies in using state-of-the-art server, computer and internet equipment to maximize efficiences of township information processing and providing information to the community at levels uncommon for most Michigan townships.
ABOUT HAMBURG GIS
Hamburg Township operates and maintains its own Geographic Information System (GIS). Simply stated, a Geographic Information System allows you to view multiple layers of data about specific locations on a map.
The primary function of the GIS Department is to create and maintain the data that provides the backbone for the Geographic Information System (GIS). The Department is also responsible for the in-house production of all maps and the coordination of the mapping and/or surveying projects with third parties.
We use our GIS to analyze data quickly and efficiently, performing operations that would be time consuming or impossible to complete otherwise. The core of our GIS revolves around a digital base parcel map that is updated on a monthly basis. We then attach various layers of data, which includes assessing, road, sewer and zoning information. This amounts to a one-stop shop for all of your information needs, thus saving valuable time that would have been spent rummaging through paper documents.
Currently, we have two computers in Hamburg Township Hall that the public can use to access our GIS. Basic instructions are provided and employees will be happy to assist you if needed. An instruction sheet will be provided to guide the user through basic functions. In addition to the mapping features, a user is able to view assessing, zoning, road and sewer information.
We also produce road and zoning maps with our GIS, which are for available for purchase at Township Hall. The GIS Department also accepts orders for one foot topographic mapping.
