Winans Lake Road Maintenance Draws Ire From Residents
12/10/09 - Even as winter has made its first appearance, Livingston
County residents are still dealing with the hassles of roadwork.
Several members of the public came forward to complain about the
maintenance being performed on Winans Lake Road at the Livingston
County Road Commission’s regular meeting earlier today.
Residents complained that crews have been cutting down live trees,
leaving dead trees standing, and allowing dangerous debris to
accumulate on the roadside. Road Commission Managing Director
Mike Craine clarified that the crews were not there to simply
remove dead trees, but are meant to remove specific trees in order
to improve visibility on Winans Lake Road. He added that some
trees had to be removed to allow vehicles to pull off the road
in case of car trouble. Crews are still working, and all debris
should be cleared from the roadside by the time the project is
finished. (JM)
