In the Village of Hamburg....

Return to  Hamburg Home Page

The history and development of this small Michigan village is closely tied to the development of the Grand Trunk Western and the Ann Arbor Railroads.

A favorite attraction of the Hamburg Railroad Days is the Excursion Train Ride. The Excursion Train will run from Hamburg to AnnPere Station, which is just south of Howell. Train ride departure times: 10:15/11:30/12:45/2:00/3:15. Our riders love the ride through the countryside on a beautiful warm, September Saturday. Plan to get your tickets early -- we sell out every year. Tickets are on sale for $12/person at the Historical Museum on Stone Street and at Hamburg Food Center.

LOCATION: Hamburg is located three miles west of US 23, Exit 5 4, nine miles north of Ann Arbor. Click here for directions to Hamburg Township.

NEW This Year:  The Hamburg Historical Museum

The big news for this year is the addition of the Hamburg Historical Museum in the former library building at 7225 Stone Street in downtown Hamburg Village.  The Historical Museum will feature:

  • Many old photographs of the Ann Arbor Railroad and Grand Trunk Railroad as they ran side by side through Hamburg.
  • Many photographs of the two big train wrecks in Hamburg.
  • The museum is located 2 blocks from where passengers board the Excursion Train on Stone Street.
  • Museum Hours: Wednesdays from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This week, open Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 4-7 p.m.
  • Excursion Train Tickets: $12/person on sale at the Museum. Tickets also available at Hamburg Food Center.
