- Livingston County’s three legislators have been sworn in and they’ll
have full plates this term. State Representatives Bill Rogers and Cindy Denby
of Handy Township along with Senator Joe Hune of Hamburg Township were all
sworn in Wednesday as part of the 96th Legislature. Rogers, a Genoa Township
Republican, was assigned to serve as chair of the Department of Education
and School Aid Appropriation Subcommittees; vice chair of the Department
of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth Appropriations Subcommittee and will
also serve on the Corrections, Military and Veterans Affairs and State Police
Appropriation Committees. Rogers says he was pretty surprised at the number
of committee assignments he received and noted that some of those will be
pretty tough budgets. Denby will serve as Vice Chair of the Agriculture Committee
while also serving on the Commerce, Insurance, and Oversight, Reform and
Ethics Committees. Denby says "she’s looking forward to advocating
for agriculture programs that are essential to revitalizing our economy".
Hune will chair the Senate’s Agriculture, Insurance and Redistricting
Committees. He’ll also sit on the Health Policy and Regulatory Reform
Committees. (JM)
