- An overflow crowd is expected today at a funeral being held for a Howell
woman and her three daughters killed when their SUV crashed in Indiana. 45-year-old
Barbara Pierson, 19-year-old twins Bessie and Margaret and their 14-year-old
sister Elizabeth died Sunday when the vehicle left I-69 near Waterloo and
rolled down an embankment into the path of a freight train. Barbara Pierson's
9-month-old grandson survived in an infant seat. The funeral will be held
at 11 this morning at Fowlerville United Brethren in Christ Church. Burial
will be at Pinckney Cemetery. Meanwhile, Medilodge of Howell is hosting a
fund-raising luncheon for the family January 30th. Barbara Pierson worked
there as a dietary aide for about 20 years. Her daughter Margaret was also
an employee. (JK)
