Annual Huron River Cleanup Set For April
30th In Hamburg Twp.
4/7/11
- Volunteers are still being sought for the annual cleanup effort on the Huron
River in Hamburg Township. Volunteers are needed for the April 30th workday,
which will take place from 8am to 3:30pm and focus on five different segments
of the Huron River. The cleanup is sponsored by the Township’s Flood
Prevention Committee, which was formed after massive flooding in 2004. Volunteers
will work to clear trash and debris along with other items that block the river’s
natural flow from Portage Lake to Ore Lake. In addition to people willing to
help, the Township is also looking for donations of rowboats with oars, work
or rubber gloves, garbage bags, waders, life jackets and food for the day.
Anyone interested in helping out should contact Brenda Richardson at the Hamburg
Township Hall at 810-231-1000 Ext. 212. (MS)
