The State of Michigan requires the annual licensing of all dogs 4 or more months old. Township residents may now purchase their dog tags at the Hamburg Township Treasurer's office year-round. |
If the license is purchsed within 30 days of the date you obtained the dog, the late fees will be waived. If purchased anytime after the 30-day period, the "delinquent fee" will apply.
Please remit the following to the Hamburg Township Treasurer:
- Veterinarian proof that rabies vaccination is current;
- Veterinarian proof of spay or neuter;
- Check made payable to "Hamburg Township Treasurer" for the appropriate amount; and
- If applying by mail, a self-addressed, stamped 10" envelope. Your veterinarian proof will be returned to you along with your new dog license.
Please consult a licensed veterinarian or animal control office for microchip information. Also, the State Department of Agriculture has a tattoo identification registry available.

2011 DOG LICENSE-1YEAR/ 3 YEAR OPTION
Good news! Dog Licenses will now expire on the same date as the rabies expiration
date. You now have the option to purchase a one year license or a three year
license which will expire in the MONTH of the current rabies expiration date.
However, the rabies vaccination must be valid for the entire three year period
in order to purchase the three year license. Please note that your 2010 dog
license will extend to the MONTH of your current rabies expiration date of
2011. Rabies vaccines can be renewed anytime in the MONTH in which it expires.
You are then eligible to purchase a Dog License before the end of the MONTH.
If you do NOT purchase a Dog License by the end of that MONTH, a late fee of
$15 will be added to the price of a Dog License. Please provide proof of rabies
vaccination and proof of spay/neuter as required by State Statute.

The Hamburg Township Treasurer's Office will replace your tag for $1.00 as long as the rabies vaccination is current.
Puppies are typically licensed between 4-6 months old, as this is the age at which the first rabies vaccination is usually given. The license may be obtained once the rabies requirement is fulfilled.
Please contact the Township's Planning & Zoning office for kennel licensing information.
