Hamburg Township

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR EARLY SEWER CONECTION

1. In the event a property is within 400 feet of an existing sewer sewer line, the owner shall be permitted to make an application for an immediate connection together with the $200.00 (Two Hundred) Dollar non-refundable application fee. A cost estimate will be prepared by Hamburg Township to complete the connection and submitted to the property owner. The property owner, upon payment of all costs estimated to complete the connection, would then be scheduled for construction of the connection to the Hamburg Township Sanitary Sewer System (HTSSS).

2. In the event that the sewer connection application submitted by the property owner is for a new home to be constructed in Hamburg Township, a Land Use Permit will not be issued until such time as the Agreement for Sewer Connection has been signed by the property owner(2) and all estimated fees for connection have been paid in full.

3. In the event a property owner experiences a failed septic system, has completed steps 1 - 7 of the Hamburg Township Policies and Procedures for the Establishment of Contract Special Assessment Districts, and qualifies under the Hardship rules established by the Board of Trustees, then the Sewer Committee may be recommend an advance of funds to an early hookup, provided the cost to complete an individual hookup does not exceed $15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Dollars) and all costs associated with all early connections not yet funded through a bond issue do not exceed $100,000 (One Hundred Thousand) Dollars. Final approval of subject advance shall lie with the Board of Trustees.

4. Connections to the Sewer System other than as specfically described in paragraphs 1 and 2 above, must first be approved by the Sewer Committee of the Board of Trustees. If approved by the Sewer Committee then such application shall be submitted to the Board of Trustees for who may grant final approval.
