Chief Richard Duffany was sworn in as the Chief of Police of the Hamburg Township Police Department on June 8, 2011 and was appointed Director of Public Safety on September 18, 2018.

Chief Duffany was born and raised in Dearborn Heights and is a graduate of Dearborn Divine Child High School. He began his law enforcement career with the Dearborn Heights Police Department and spent over 22 years with that department, rising to the rank of Captain, before retiring to take the Hamburg Township Police Chief position.

Chief Duffany has a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Eastern Michigan University and has a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School. He is also a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.

Deputy Director - Police Operations


Deputy Chief Dariusz Nisenbaum was sworn in as the Deputy Chief of the Hamburg Township Police Department on January 2, 2012.

Deputy Chief Nisenbaum began his career with the Livonia Police Department in 1986 as a police cadet before being promoted to the position of police officer in 1987. He held the supervisory ranks of Sergeant from 1997 - 2004 and Lieutenant from 2004 - 2012.

Deputy Chief Nisenbaum holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Madonna University and is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.
