Dog License Renewals - Residents are encouraged to license or renew dog licenses online through the Livingston County Treasurer's website - Click here
The license is connected to the rabies shot expiration date and 1 and 3 year licenses are available. The County will notify you when you license is due through a postcard. Please note the renewal date. Once you get the postcard, do not wait (the license must be purchase in the same month the rabies shot expires).

2020 Dog License Notes
The State of Michigan requires the annual licensing of all dogs 4 (four) or more months old. Township residents may now purchase their dog tags at the Hamburg Township Treasurer's Office year-round.

New Dogs
Please purchase within thirty (30) days of the date you obtained the dog.
Please remit the following to the Hamburg Township Treasurer:
- Veterinarian proof that rabies vaccination is current.
- Veterinarian proof of spay or neuter.
- Check made payable to "Hamburg Township Treasurer" for the appropriate amount
- If applying by mail, a self-addressed stamped 10" envelope. Your veterinarian proof will be returned to you along with your new dog license.
- Hamburg Township accepts Cash, Check or Credit/Debit cards
- Obtain License online through Livingston County
Do you still think your dog doesn't need a license?
The Hamburg Township Treasurer's Office will replace your tag for $5.00 as long as the rabies vaccination is current.
Tags need to be processed and purchased through Livingston County.
Please contact the Township's Planning & Zoning Office for kennel licensing. information.
You now have the option to purchase a one-year license, or a three year license which will expire in the MONTH of the current rabies expiration date. However, the rabies vaccination must be valid for the entire three year period in order to purchase the three year license.
Rabies vaccines can be renewed anytime in the MONTH in which it expires. You are then eligible to purchase a Dog License before the end of the MONTH. Please provide proof of rabies vaccination and proof of spay/neuter as required by State Statute.
Please consult a licensed veterinarian or animal control office for microchip information. Also, the State Department of Agriculture has a tattoo identification registry available.

Veterinary proof of both current rabies vaccinations and sterilization must be presented EACH YEAR to obtain a license.
