Tasks To Be Done

Coming Soon Current proposed Work Site List - Prepared by Bob Robertson of the Hamburg Flood Prevention Committee

  • Work areas along the shoreline of the Huron River are being determined.  The Current work site list can be viewed here. Work sites involve a combination of working in the river and working along the river shorelines.  The work site region is an approximately 3 mile section of the Huron River in Hamburg Township from the Hamburg Road Bridge to the mouth of Strawberry Lake.
  • Trash will be picked up and fallen trees/woody debris that aren't embedded in the river bottom will be pulled away from the center of the river and placed parallel to the shoreline to slow storm water and snowmelt runoff and riverbank erosion.  This will also help to maximize streamflow throughput.
  • Some volunteers will be needed to help with food for breakfast, snacks and lunch and command center tent activities.
  • Some volunteers will be needed as "runners" to take full rowboats of trash and debris from pontoon boats back to trash receptacles at the Conservation Club parking lot.
  • .Some volunteers/sponsors will be needed to provide food and drink for the continental breakfast, snacks, bottled water and hot dog/pizza lunch.
  • Captains with pontoon boats are needed to carry volunteers and trash bagged materials to and from work sites.  If you can captain your pontoon boat for a work crew, please contact Scott Strane of Chain of Lakes Boat Tours at 810-599-2123.
  • Sponsors are needed to help with the cost of tee-shirts.  All tee-shirt funds are donated.
  • Also needed are rowboats with oars, porta-potty (one handicapped size unit), a dumpster, work/rubber gloves, garbage bags, waders and life jackets.
