C-196700 Hamburg Township Public Safety Police Patch Michigan ARThe Hamburg Township Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency responsible for providing police services to Hamburg Township which has a population of 21,165 residents and is the largest municipality in Livingston County.

The department has 18 full-time police officers who provide police coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and who have a strong commitment to community policing principles.

Officers face unique challenges policing the 36 square miles of Hamburg Township which contains 32 named lakes, a 6.5 mile stretch of the Lakelands Trail and thousands of acres of state recreational land. Hamburg Township police officers not only enforce criminal and traffic laws but also are called upon to enforce marine and conservation laws.  As such, Hamburg Township police officers can be seen utilizing mountain bikes, ATVs, patrol boats and jet skis in addition to police cars to patrol the Township.
